The pop star shared an updated take on her debut single on Instagram.

Britney Spears has debuted a new rendition of one of her biggest hits.

In a clip posted to Instagram yesterday, the pop star sings a haunting remix of her 1998 debut single "...Baby One More Time" while standing in a dark room illuminated by changing neon colors. While the original song is on the brighter side of sultry, Spears slows down the lyrics and gives them a jazzier spin in the a cappella clip, while changing the iconic hook to "Give me a f--kin' sign/Hit me baby one more time."

"This is me yesterday doing laundry and separating clothes," she wrote in the caption. "I haven't shared my voice in an extremely long time… maybe too long… and here's me playing at my house with a different version of 'Baby.'"

The Stronger singer also wrote about her efforts to release an updated version of the song during her conservatorship. She previously revealed that she had wanted to sing new songs and remixes of her old songs for years, and that she was always denied.

"Well I have asked for what I wanted for 14 years … a different version of 'Baby' but have the producers actually work for me and put it together 🎵 … a start … but as the TEAM said NO and serves me with 4 girls, my sister included, doing a 5 minute version of 4 remixed songs 🎥 to a T not even having to give effort or dance 💃🏼 … just shot it beautifully and the sound was NEW !!! They ruined it for me, embarrassed me and made me feel like absolutely nothing🙄🙄🙄 !!!"

Though several fans' comments suggest that she should release a re-recorded album à la Taylor Swift, Spears writes that she's still frustrated after being denied the chance to re-release the song for so long.

"Pssss you say go do it NOW after 14 years of asking and telling 😬😬… I worked my ass off then I was locked up in one place … It's too late ⏰… Like I said, they ruined it for me🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Pssss I thought it was 'ask and you shall receive' but uhhhhh all I knew was 'NO MAAM, SORRY'!!!!"

Shortly after her conservatorship was terminated last November, the "Overprotected" singer wrote candidly about her decision to step back from music in a since-deleted caption.

"So much wasted time to only embarrass and humiliate me and I guess it seems odd to most now why I don't even do my music anymore," she wrote. "People have no idea the awful things that were done to me personally ... and after what I've been through, I'm scared of people and the business!!! They really hurt me!!! Not doing music anymore is my way of saying 'f**k you' in a sense when it only actually benefits my family by ignoring my real work."
