Duchess Kate has returned to the high seas for another sailing adventure.

The Duchess of Cambridge made an appearance at the Sail Grand Prix (Sail GP) at Trinity Pier in Plymouth, England today, visiting the global sailing competition in support of 1851 Trust. In her packed visit, the duchess took part in activities promoting sustainability before joining a friendly 'Commonwealth Race' alongside Britain's team.

For the land-based portion of her visit, Kate got into the nautical spirit, wearing a classic navy blue sweater with white nautical stripes. She paired the top with white linen shorts featuring gold buttons by Holland Taylor, white Superga "Cotu" sneakers, and small gold hoops.

Duchess Kate is royal patron of the 1851 Trust, which aims to inspire young people to explore science and technology through sport. Today she met with young participants as they made seagrass mats that will be planted off Plymouth Sound, which will help improve marine health and contribute to blue carbon capture, per People.

The royal later donned an official GBR wetsuit to take part in the race between Great Britain and New Zealand's teams. She was photographed aboard the F50 foiling catamaran, where she assisted Sir Ben Ainslie, the most successful sailor in Olympic history and co-founder of the 1851 Trust, and the rest of the Great Britain crew during the race.

The occasion marked Duchess Kate's first public sailing excursion post-pandemic. The duchess has previously faced off against Prince William multiple times throughout their marriage. Their most recent race was in August 2019, when the royals acted as skippers of competing vessels during the King's Cup Sailing charity race on the Isle of Wight. (Prince George and Princess Charlotte were also present, as they cheered for their parents.)

The Cambridges have reportedly become a sailing family during the pandemic, with an insider telling Vanity Fair that the family spent several days sailing on the north Norfolk coast last summer.

"They are very much a family of sailors now," the source told the outlet. "Kate has always been a competent sailor and William’s pretty good too. They have enjoyed some wonderful time on the coast this summer sailing and showing the children how to steer and sail a boat. They love the water and the two eldest are good swimmers and had no qualms about jumping into the sea even if it was a bit fresh."
