Lupita Nyong'o is giving us a masterclass in partying in style this week while on her Italian getaway, and proving that when it comes to fashion, sometimes more is definitely more.
The actress was among the stars who attended Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda runway show in Sicily Saturday—and she absolutely looked the part. Nyong'o donned a custom, Baroque-inspired, hand-painted couture minidress by the Italian fashion house. The stunning halter-top piece featured blood orange still-life illustrations embellished with beads over a black background, surrounded by white florals, as well as intricate red, yellow, and blue designs on the skirt.
The bodice acted as a built-in corset, while the skirt flared out like a tutu, and the strap featured green, orange, and blue jewels.
Nyong'o wore the D&G masterpiece with a matching embellished crown fascinator in the same colors, and black heels also adorned with colorful flower appliqués. As if the look couldn’t get more fabulous, she accessorized with an oversized red rose ring and rose-colored jewel and diamond drop earrings.
She wore smoky makeup and dark lipstick created by makeup artist Nick Barose, who called the look "Baroque Vamp." Hairstylist Vernon François then styled her dark hair into an elegant braided updo to hold up her couture crown.
"Ciao! 🖤," the Black Panther star—who was born in Mexico City to Kenyan parents—simply captioned an Instagram post with photos of her glamorous Sicilian look.
Styled by Micaela Erlanger, Nyong'o wore another elaborate Dolce look one day prior: a yellow and blue off-the-shoulder summer dress with a thigh slit, embellished with beaded white flowers and green leaves. She completed the look with matching blue heels with white flowers, and her hair was styled into an elevated and dramatic updo, which the actress jokingly compared to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but called it the "Leaning Tower of Power."
Of course, the star also attended the D&G party, to which she wore yet another shimmering piece. This time, it was a bright orange sequined off-the-shoulder minidress with fringe at the bottom and large flower and blood orange appliqués on the sides and strap. She completed the dazzling look with matching orange heels adorned with flowers and oranges, a light-pink flower crown, bedazzled gold mini bag, and diamond drop earrings.
