What’s the most iconic sign?

I’m going to say Pisces because I am a Pisces, and as a creative, you have to be in tune with your emotions. I hear a lot of people say that Pisces are more sensitive.

Which icon of your own would you want to meet?

I wish I could have met Frank Sinatra. I just want to pick his brain and take everything he did and make it my own.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I want my legacy to be as an artist who told the truth. The medium could vary from music to other art forms. But at this very moment, it is music.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

That would have to be from my mom. She said, “Life is what you make it.” And now I don’t blame anyone for any result. Anything that happened, I say it’s because of me, good or bad.

When was the first time you felt like you’d “made it”?

Recently, at the past Met Gala. Jimmy Fallon was my chaperone. He was taking me everywhere. We sat at the same table and I was like, “I feel like Jimmy Fallon’s nephew. I must have arrived.” I felt the same way on my first European tour, where they didn’t necessarily speak English but they would scream out all of my songs written in English. I’m from Long Beach, California. That doesn’t happen. That’s when it started to feel real.
